AAMC Graduation Questionnaire - Participate in the AAMC Graduation Questionnaire. The GQ is the single most important survey for the COM. The information is used by both the COM and our accreditation body (the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, or LCME) to identify institutional strengths as well as aspects of your medical school experience that need attention from administration. COM administrative leadership will be personally reviewing our GQ data in order to continue to improve the COM experience for current and future students.
Additionally, the COM is currently preparing for a LCME accreditation visit, which will occur January 2014. The self-study period is starting now, which means YOUR responses on the GQ questionnaire will be particularly valuable for our re-accreditation.
Many medical schools boast near 100% completion of the GQ by their graduating class; alas, the UA COM has not faired nearly as well in recent years. So show some school spirit and help us out – complete the GQ!!
The GQ has been open for completion since mid-February. All responses are confidential; school data is published in aggregate form only. You can access the GQ with this link:

2012 White Coat Ceremony
5:00 pm, Centennial Hall, Main Campus
The White Coat Ceremony welcomes entering medical students and helps establish a psychological contract for the practice of medicine. The event emphasizes the importance of compassionate care for the patient as well as scientific proficiency and includes several elements:
The cloaking of the white coat—the mantle of the medical profession—is a hands-on experience that underscores the bonding process. It is personally placed on each student by individuals who believe in the students' ability to carry on the noble tradition of doctoring. Each coat will have affixed a "Humaninsm in Medicine" lapel pin, provided by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation
What is Humanism in Medicine?
When practiced, humanism in medicine fosters relationships with patients and other caregivers that are compassionate and empathic. It also describes attitudes and behaviors that are sensitive to the values, autonomy, cultural and ethnic
backgrounds of others.
The humanistic doctor demonstrates the following attributes:
Integrity: the congruence between expressed values and behavior.
Excellence: clinical expertise.
Compassion: the awareness and acknowledgement of the suffering of another and the desire to relieve it.
Altruism: the capacity to put the needs and interests of another before your own.
Respect: the regard for the autonomy and values of another person.
Empathy: the ability to put oneself in another's situation, e.g., physician as patient.
Service: the sharing of one's talent, time and resources with those in need; giving beyond what is required.
Recitation of a Mission Statement (created by the entering class) which represents the public acknowledgment by the students of the responsibilities of the profession and their willingness to assume such obligations in the presence of family, friends, and faculty
